Kneehole desk

Kneehole desk

Description
A model of a smallish kneehole desk. The original, which dates from the last quarter of the 18th Century, is said to be housed in the American Wing of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. It is made of mahogany plus some secondary woods. I created the model from plans in "American Furniture Treasures," by Lester Margon. As it happens, a friend built a reproduction of this desk about 30 years ago, using the same plans I did for the model; my friend's wife uses the desk as a sewing center. #American_period_furniture #American_Wing #desk #kneehole_desk #mahogany #Metropolitan_Museum #office_furniture #period_furniture
