9./ Staffel, Zerstörergeschwader 26 (ZG 26) - Palermo, Italy, late 1940 /// One of ZG 26's early Bf 110, based in Italy during the early stages of World War II. The I. and III. Gruppes of ZG 26 were equipped with the Messerschmitt Bf 110, one of which (3U+KT; unknown pilot) is shown here in the early-war Mediterranean / African desert camouflage. ZG 26 took part in the Battle of France, Battle of Britain, Mediterranean / African Campaign, and the invasion of the USSR before being disbanded in late 1942, it's aircraft being assigned to other Geschwaders. In 1943, the unit was reformed and equipped with the new Me 410 "Hornisse" heavy fighter, along with more Bf 110s. The unit continued to fly until late 1944, when it was disbanded for good after crippling losses; its remaining aircraft were sent to Jagdgeschwader 6 (JG 6). Thanks to psychotron for the original Bf 110, textures from the internet. They're not the best (somewhat blurry) and I was really stupid cause I used the first textures i found - going back, I found a bunch more which were a LOT better. Ah well, still looks okay to me. :P #110 #Bf #Bf_110 #Fighter #Heavy #Horst #Luftwaffe #Messerschmitt #Wessel #World_War_II #Zerstorer #Zerstorergeschwader #ZG_26
