Capacity: 83,450 - This is the Olimpiysky Sports Complex. It is the main stadium of the up and coming 2012 European Championships in Ukraine and Poland. Originally opened in August 1923, it has been renovated twice and expanded twice. it is currently not being used as it is being renovated for a 3rd time. Located in the Ukrainian capital Kyiv (Keiv), it was opened as the Red Stadium, as Ukraine was under Russian rule. It was renamed in 1941 as the Stalin Respublikanskiy Stadium, renamed again in '53 as Khrushchev Respublikanskiy Stadium, again in as Keiv Central Stadium, AGAIN in '78 as Respublikanskiy Stadium and finally to Olimpiysky National Sports Complex in 1996. It was used in the 1980 Summer Olympic games which was hosted by the Soviets in Moscow. It held the grand opening andthen the stadium was used for Football. - The stadium today, is not being used, as i stated before, is being renovated, but after it will still continue to be the home of the Ukraine national football team.
