Description
Electrabel is a Belgian based energy corporation, with power plants and customers across Europe. It was founded in 1991 when Intercom, Ebes and Unerg merged to form the present company. For a long time the French company Suez held a slight majority stake in Electrabel, but in 2005 that stake increased to 96.7%. Suez finally completed a squeeze-out of the remaining shareholders on 10 July 2007, when the company was delisted from the stock exchange. The larger power plants that Electrabel owns are the Eemscentrale in the Netherlands, a combined cycle gas turbine plant with a generation capacity of 1705 MW. And Doel and Tihange in Belgium, both nuclear power plants with a capacity of 2736.9 MW and 2423.1 MW respectively. #antwerp #sittingduck
