Research Greenhouse Complex and Arboretum

Kev
The NAU Research Greenhouse Complex (RGC) contains eight standalone greenhouses, lath and shade areas, and a laboratory facility where NAU faculty and other researchers conduct a variety of experiments related to forestry, biology, ecology, and environmental science. The RGC also produces plants for research and nonprofit restoration projects. The RGC has cultivated a campus-wide arboretum with signed walks featuring plants and trees from various ecosystems and life zones on the Colorado Plateau, as well as adaptable trees from around the world. Self-guided tours offer newcomers and locals alike the chance to learn about the region’s ecology without hiking for miles with field guides. The NAU Arboretum was established by a grant obtained by the RGC from Arizona State Land Department’s Urban & Community Forestry Challenge Grant program. Other collaborators include NAU’s School of Forestry, Department of Biological Sciences, and the Office of the Vice President. #greenhouse #NAU #Northern_Arizona_University
