Sand Dryer

Sand Dryer

Edward T.
The railroads in the late 1800's and early 1900's used these cast iron stoves to dry wet sand for their locomotives. These upright iron stoves were surrounded by a sheet-iron jacket. Wet sand was shoveled into the top and when dry, would drop through a screen on the bottom to be shoveled to the dry sand bin. #dryer #house #railroad #sand #sandhouse #stove
