Beirut’s Old Holiday Inn is in the Ain Al-Mreisse district. It was slated to open right before the start of the Lebanese civil war. The 25 story structure became a favoured position for snipers in what became known as The "War of the Hotels" attributed to the raging gunfire battles that took place in the Minet-el-Hosn hotel district of downtown Beirut. Today the battle scarred structure, stands in stark contrast to its glitzy surroundings, as a reminder of that toubled past.
