This beautiful building at 1871 Courtlandt Street in the Bronx is the current home of the Bronx Documentary Center. The building is a New York Landmark structure, but was in complete disrepair until sold to a person committed to it revitalization for $1 in 2008. It was built by a German immigrant when the Bronx was in transition from agrarian to city life. It is a mixture of Italian and 2nd Empire styles with a slate mansard roof, oval windows and ornate masonry decorations.
The picture was in a NYT Travel section and would make an interesting building to model in SketchUp using Match Photo. It will then be created as a real model for an O'scale model railroad.
