The clock tower building, on Cowbridge Road East, is the only remaining section of a once much larger site. Constructed in 1839, this Grade II Listed Building was originally The Cardiff Union Workhouse. In 1930 it became the City Lodge Public Assistance Institution, then in 1948 it was opened as St David's Hospital. The hospital closed in 1991 and the building remained empty for many years. The site has now been redeveloped and all the buildings demolished, except for the clock tower building which is now apartments. #Cardiff #Clock_tower #hospital #listed_building #Riverside #UK #Wales
