Aon Center, Chicago

Aon Center, Chicago

E C.
Aon Center, Chicago, Illinois. Formerly the Amoco or Standard Oil Building, it has 83 floors and rises to a height of 1136'. The building was originally faced in marble, but in the early 1990s was refaced in granite. The building employs a tubular steel-framed structural system with V-shaped perimeter columns to resist earthquakes, reduce sway, minimize column bending, and maximize column-free space. This construction method was also used for the World Trade Center towers in New York City. In July 2009 a small communications antenna was installed on the roof. This was the tallest building in Chicago from 1973-1974. #Aon #Aon_Center #Center #Chicago #granite #Illinios #marble #Michigan #Randolph
