Trains at Barking depot

Simon W.
Four C-stock trains in the depot at Barking, East London. The C stock was introduced to the London Underground fleet in two batches in 1969 and 1977 for use on the busy sub-surface lines in the centre of the network. It has four pairs of doors per side (meaning the units with cabs are longer than those without) and can accomodate a higher number of standing passengers than any other type. They are used on the higher-volume routes on the Circle Line, District Line Wimbledon-Edware Rd branch, and Hammersmith and City line which terminates here at Barking. The C stocks are scheduled to be withdrawn in 2012-13, replaced by the new S stock trains. #depot_C_stock #London #railway #sidings #train #tube #underground
