One last bit of fun before putting the Sketchup to one side for a bit. This time it is the University Car park in Museum Road that I've decided to have a play with.
At some stage or other this car park on the corner of Ravelin Park is going to be built on, so I thought rather than go with the usual University build it high and use every square centimetre approach, see if something a bit odd could go there. I'm good at odd! :)
The idea I came up with was simply to create glass class rooms with living roofs. Do a few slightly different designs and arrange them so there's a busy roof pattern. In a way like looking at a copse of trees. The lower edges of the rooms are pointed at the Park so as to reduce it's visible height.
As ever if there's a car park I like to keep it, so up on legs went the buildings.
Now buildings have gaps between them for a reason, one is I hope to help reflect some light down below to the car park and the other is to make it all a whole lot more interesting. With walkways joining the class rooms and ramps to gain access, I just wanted it to be somewhere enjoyable to look at and go.
So that's it for now, not the most complicated of drawings but fun to do.
Hope you like!
An idea has occurred to me, this corner of Ravelin Park has a part of the old Ramparts under it (Town Mount Bastion)... what if the moat was dug out revealing the walls and then using it as an interesting/character underground space/gym.
