The Anderson Abruzzo Albuquerque International Balloon Museum is dedicated to every form of lighter-than-air flight and was first opened in 2005. The plan view of this design award winning building represents a hot air balloon lying on its side during inflation and the full height rear window is shaped like an inflated balloon. It is located next to the Balloon Fiesta Park where the annual Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta takes place for two weeks each October. The 59000 square feet of space houses many historical ballooning artifacts including items donated by famous balloonists. The museum is named after Maxie Anderson and Ben Abruzzo who were two successful Albuquerque businessmen who made ballooning history in 1978. Accompanied by Larry Newman, they made the first successful non-stop crossing of the Atlantic Ocean by helium balloon.landing in France after a flight of 137 hours. #Abruzzo #Albuquerque #aviation #balloon #flight #Museum
