The Queen Elizabeth II Library was officially opened on May 28, 1982, replacing the Henrietta Harvey Building as the central library serving MUN. It contains over 1,058,600 monographs, 93,900 maps, 13,600 audio-visual titles, and over 9,000 journal titles amounting to 303,500 journal and serial volumes. Special areas of the Queen Elizabeth II Library include the Centre for Newfoundland Studies and Archives as well as the Map Room, Media and Data Centre, and The Commons.
