The Vindicators are an extension of the X program, utilizing technologies developed for the R-107-X Shadowknight. The Vindicators are faster, with standard fusion drives capable of higher velocities, and a more efficient quantac generator that provides enough power to maintain full shielding, even while the scanning suite is fully engaged.
Outward scanning range is increased to almost a full AU, and the stealth cloaking is enhanced to extend partially into the visible spectrum. While it isn't yet possible for them to become completely invisible, the cloak can shift the ship's outline in a randomized sequence that plays tricks on the eye. A formation of three or more Vindicators with cloaks engaged will be invisible to the naked eye from beyond .25 kilometers. It's not certain if the Tarthet's vision is affected in a like manner, but studies are currently underway, assisted by a lone defector.
