Located in the high desert, this shelter is usable year-round due to the thermal mass of the stacked rock gabions. The 100 square foot floor area is enhanced by sloping interior faces of the gabions to provide expansive interior volume. Thermal glazing, recessed entries, 8" concrete roof with vegetation all contribute to the thermal stability of the interior. Study and sleeping functions as well as a fireplace complete the interior.
