Hood Milk Bottle, Boston

The Hood Milk Bottle is 40' tall and 18' in diameter. If it were real, it would hold 50,000 gallons of milk. The original Hood Milk Bottle was built entirely of wood in 1934 as an ice cream stand run by Arthur Gagner in Taunton, MA. It was soon thereafter taken over by the Sankeys who operated the stand until 1967. It stood vacant for eight years until Hood Milk was persuaded to buy it. In 1977, it was cut into three sections and moved by barge to Boston's Museum Wharf. Today, the Hood Bottle still serves as an ice cream stand and snack bar next to the Children's Museum. The Bottle was revamped on the 30th anniversary of its move to Boston. #Boston #children #Hood #milk_bottle #museum #wharf
