Hamot House

Hamot House

Shaun E.
The Hamot House, located on the corner of E. 3rd and French Street in Erie, Pennsylvania, was the home of Pierre Simon Vincent Hamot. Hamot, a French businessman, settled in Pennsylvania with his father in 1805 and came to Erie in 1809 after his father's death. Hamot previously lived on German Street in Erie until the building was destroyed by fire in 1827. After the fire, Hamot hired Peter Grawotz, Erie's first brick mason, to build his new home. Hamot lived in this building until his death in 1846; he left the building to her daughter Mary, who later married George W. Starr, a founder of the nearby Hamot Hospital. In 1991, Hamot House became listed in the National Register of Historic Places. #erie #hamot #hamot_house #pennsylvania #pierre_simon_vincent_hamot
