NN-RB2
For there second year, the team race an updated NN-RB1, after deciding to concentrate on 2009's car rather than overdevelop the NN-RB2. The team still uses Audi engines as part of a 3 year deal with the marques. For the 2008 season it was decided that Newportman Reserve driver Tomas Larson would run with the team in place of Alfonso Delgado, who in turn would be Team Newportman reserve, with an aim of him being promoted to race driver in 2010. His team mate is still Scott Jones, kept after a strong first season. Carlos Balda retires from F1 to concentrate on winning Le Mans with Newportman LMS Racing. He is replaced by Newportman GP2's Japanese Team leader Tak Your as reserve driver, he dovetails the reserve role with his GP2 drive. The car proves fast but unreliable, with Scott Jones impressing with 2 podiums. Tomas Larson doesn't have a good year in his second year as a race driver. After his average year with Jeroentjeeh Racing in 2004, and his win in 2007, much was expected of him in a well run team. He manages to get 1 podium but scores only 12 points to Jones' 24. It is decided at the end of the year by Team Newportman management to move Larson to America to lead the new IndyCar effort. #Audi #Car #F1 #Formula #Formula_1 #Formula_one #GP2 #Mcdonalds #mercedes #Newport #Newportman #Nitro #Race #Race_Track #Racing #Reebok #Santander #Sony #Team_Newportman
