Solar semicycle

Solar semicycle

Fernando Sánchez Arroyo
Description
Building designed by the architects Ruiz-Larrea & Asociados and finished in 2010. It is placed in a new expansion area in Móstoles, a suburb in the south of Madrid. It is a unitary block, oriented to the South and gifted with a slight curvature which emphasizes the N-E crest axis that draws up this area of the enlargement and embraces, on the other hand, the public space. The block lays out like a clear, clean and peaceful volume, which holds in its inner and shows in its outer, an organic structure which obeys the programmatic, aesthetics, and energetic concerns. Separating this structure horizontally, it turns out, a sequence of passable housings modules placed between two thermal cushions. First of them faced to the South, consists of a glass-ware gallery that make functions of warm air accumulation during the winter. The second thermal cushion is formed by a sequence of openings, little courts and bioclimatic corridors faced to the North and confined between a double skin. If we divide up the organic structure in vertical, it appears scheme divided into three parts clearly differenced, which address to the classical tradiction: a permeable base, a sequence of “piani nobili” and a crest laid out of the gardened cover. #bioclimatism #bioclimatismo #España #Madrid #Móstoles #RLA #ruiz_larrea #ruizlarrea #Spain
