Scottish Rite Cathedral of Chicago

Scottish Rite Cathedral of Chicago

3D Warehouse Staff
Built in 1867, the original cathedral in Chicago demonstrated the Gothic Revival style of architecture. During the 1871 Great Fire, everything was destroyed except the limestone walls. Dankmar Adler (of Burlington and Adler) was called to his first commission to redesign the acoustics and the seating arrangements. The success of the cathedral helped launch Adler's architectural career. The Scottish Rite, associated with the Masonic Fraternal Organization, has resided in the building since 1910. Model by Catherine Moats. #60611 #acoustics #Burlington_and_Adler #Cathedral #Chicago #Dankmar_Adler #Dearborn_Street #limestone #Masonic_Fraternal_Organization #Scottish_Rite #The_Great_Fire
