GIS Interns
Building 1212B housed the 7 X 10-Foot High Speed wind tunnel at NASA Langley Research Center, Hampton, Virginia. The tunnel became operational in 1945, running high speed testing and experimenting with transonic testing using a crude "transonic bump" installation. During the Cold War, the tunnel was altered to increase its speed up to Mach 1. With Mach 1 capability the tunnel did a number of important research on U.S. military aircraft and missiles. The 1980s brought more alterations to the tunnel which led to flow visualization testing. The facility was closed in 1994 and demolished in 2009. #Building #Langley #LaRC #NASA #Research_Center #wind_tunnel
