Designed by Taurai Chinoruma From: Johannesburg, South Africa Shelter location: Zimbabwe Date Accepted: August 27, 2009 Located by a dam, this shelter “touches the earth lightly”, minimizing environmental damage. Entry is though north-facing glass curtain wall with adjustable louvers (for cooling onshore breezes). The glass allows views to dam and sunshine in winter. Wide roof overhangs cool the building in summer and sunshine entry in winter. Workspace is on entry level; sleeping space raised 800mm above. Construction materials locally available make the shelter part of its environment.
