Waste-Pickers Shelter

Design It Shelter Competition
Description
Designed by Alexander Niño Ruiz From: Grosuplje, Slovenia Shelter location: Colombia Date submitted: August 24, 2009 18,000 families of recyclers collect almost one tenth of the daily waste produced in Bogotá, paradoxically many of them are sheltered by the very waste they collect. Four barrel-shaped boxes in corrugated me tal solves the equation of serving as a waste container and a easy-to-pull diclycle for them to work and move. Boxes expand rendering a shelter coated in reflective paint to become a visible part of the urban environment.
