The DC-8-40 was the first turbofan powered DC-8, being powered by four Rolls Royce RB.80 Conway low bypass turbofan engines. Only Trans-Canada Air Lines, Canadian Pacific Air Lines and Alitailia ordered this type, as other European airlines stuck with the 707-420, also powered by the Conway and the US airlines refused to fly planes with British built engines. #Air #Airlines #Canada #CFTJE #DC8 #DC840 #DC843 #Douglas #Lines #Series_40 #Series_43 #Trans #TransCanada
