Khmelnytskyi House of Culture

Dmytro R.
Do you know that the city House of Culture is a former theater? In general, it was the first theater that appeared in Proskuriv back in 1892. It was wooden and was located on the modern Kamianetska Street. The wooden structure, you know, could not be comfortable. That is why in 1907 the famous theatre-goer and patron of Proskuriv Borukh-Srul Shilman erected a new theater building - this time made of stone. The theater managed to see the Ukrainian National Republic meetings and even get acquainted with the members of the Lenin's club. And in 1960 it was transformed into the House of Culture. Many bright and talented people worked and still work within the walls of the institution - from actors and singers to bandura players and dancers. Today, for example, there is a folk amateur theater "Dzerkalo" (that is “Mirror”), which is loved not only by the Ukrainian audiences but also foreign.
