The ‘front office’ of the cell block and the building for the reception of drug addicts form one stone landscape plinth beneath the prominent cell block which blends in a row of rectangular volumes along the elevated Flierbosdreef. The cell block is covered with an outside screen of different light bluish-grey grilles which is in constant relation with the weather conditions. The combined building comprises of strictly guarded entrance zones, separated flows of traffic for the different users, security rooms, arrest cells, offices, lodgings, divers meeting rooms and a built in garage. On top and along the cells there are the technical zones so that the installations are always accessible without having to disturb other processes in the building. This stratification finally gets obvious in the transparent skin of the blok of cells.
