Dürkheimer Gradierbau

Aerilius
The original 333m long graduation tower, the so called 'Saline', was built in 1847 as part of a huge saline complex, consisting of 6 such buildings. The salt production in this area started already in celtic era and reached industrial scale in the early 18th century. Salty water rippled down over brushwood, evaporated and then was boilt down inorder to yield table salt. However, this 'Saline' was mainly used as inhalatorium for health reasons. After a fire-raising in 1992 destroyed the northern 80 meters, the Saline was restored until 1997 with lots of donations. No ten years later, fire raisers burned down the building completely. Since November 2009, it has been under reconstruction and was inaugurated on 9th October 2010. At that opportunity, a sun terrace and "light portals" were added, moreover 3440 solar modules on the roof. #Allemagne #Bad_Duerkheim #Bad_Dürkheim #Deutschland #Germany #Gesundheit #Gradierbau #Gradierwerk #graduation_tower #health #Kur #Palatinate #Pfalz #RheinlandPfalz #Rhineland_Palatinate #Saline #salt #Salz #santé #sel #Sole #thermal
