Antimony is the chemical element of atomic number 51. Its symbol is Sb, from the Latin stibium meaning stick.
It is a semi-metal that comes in four different allotropic shapes. The stable form has a bluish-white metallic appearance, the unstable shapes have yellow or black color. It is used as a flame retardant and to produce paints, enamels, ceramics and rubbers, as well as a wide range of metal alloys.
