The oldest purpose build student union in the world, designed by architects Sydney Mitchell & Wilson and completed in 1889. The notable brutalist extension to the rear of the building was added in 1960. The building houses a sports bar, upstairs bar with roof terrace and the splendid recently converted Library Bar. During the annual Fringe festival, Teviot Roy House plays host to the Gilded Balloon comedy club. The buildings Debating Hall has a capacity of 400 for Ceilidhs, discos and band nights.
