Lage Vuurtoren van Westkapelle

Lage Vuurtoren van Westkapelle

Jan Hendrik Fennema
Description
Westkapelle has two lighthouses. The smallest is placed on the promenade and is called Noorderhoofd. The other tower is further inland and is called High Light. When you visit Westkapelle it is most likely that the lighthouses are shining in the sun. Because it is in this area of the Netherlands that the sun shines the most. The Noorderhoofd (also called the low lighthouse Westkapelle or Westkapelle Low) is the name of the second lighthouse in Westkapelle to keep it apart from the high lighthouse in the village. At the seafront in Westkapelle is the small lighthouse. This cast iron tower from 1875 was designed by Quirinus Harder, which also designed many other Dutch lighthouses. The lighthouse (iron) is made by foundry Nering Bögel in Deventer. This tower, together with the high light, form a light line to the Oostgat. #1875 #cast_iron #Lighthouse #nederland #netherland #q_harder #vuurtoren #wastkapelle
