Leominster is a small market town in the Northern part of Herefordshire county in the West of England near the Welsh border. The Westfield School in Leominster serves students with special needs. And, special is the important word here: Head Teacher Nicki Gilbert says, “We focus on the skills required to navigate a meaningful path through life’s journey. Working with the community is an important element of our curriculum and many learning experiences transcend the school grounds.” The school, which dates from the early 1970s, is smaller than most: there are currently 31 learners ranging in age from four to 19. According to Gilbert, “The school vision encourages individuals to follow their dreams, no matter how ambitious they may appear; we believe that no path should be left unexplored and work with a large number of partners to create realistic futures for our young people. The school is currently in the process of raising the funds to build a hydrotherapy pool on the school’s premises. #England #Herefordshire #Leominster #school #special #UK #United_Kingdom #Westfield
