Description
The building for Chinese Consolidated Benevolent Association (CCBA) in Portland was built in 1911 by David L. Williams. It is the only building in Old Town / Chinatown specifically designed and built for Chinese ownership. Considered one of the most significant buildings in the district, it has been the headquarters for the Chinese community's primary governing body, serving as a social gathering place, educational facility, and political headquarters. A Chinese Language School was opened in 1908 and has been in continual operation since that time.
