Undir Höfða Church AD 1300 (South Greenland)

Undir Höfða Church AD 1300 (South Greenland)

MedievalEurope
Undir Höfda was one of the bigger farms of the so-called "Eastern Settlement", the biggest group of farms in a region in south Greenland. Its church was one of the 14 parish churches mentioned by Ivar Bardson around the mid 14th century (not all have been rediscovered yet). All that remains of this church until today are north, south and east wall, built of local stones. The fact that no traces of a stone-built west wall exist makes it look likely that the church had a wooden west wall.
