Description
Castle Nuwendoorn (named after 'New Doors')near Eenigenburg in the province of North Holland, was built by Floris the Fifth,count of Holland, in the second half of the 13th century. Its purpose was to protect Holland from the West-Frisians. One day, during a severe storm, the sea broke through the dyke, the castle got flooded and collapsed.
