I got around to finishing one of the ships for the slug people. If you have seen Mr. Jumpman's mech tutorial, then you will recognize some of the shapes in the upcoming ships. I was inspired by some of the shapes and techniques used it that tutorial and so I made some alien ships. Upcoming are a bomber, a dropship, a another ship with no purpose as of yet, and a sleek, Calamare-slug hybrid ship.
I put a slug in the cockpit for fun and for scale. There are no weapons as of yet, but there is a hatchway under the ship.
The slug people, (because I couldn't fit it all into the Calamare model description) are informally called Slugs. Their scientific name is Trichypodae metallicus, because trichy- means hair, or in this case spiny growths, -podae from the name Gastropodae, and metallicus because early in designing I thought it would be funny if their race loved heavy metal music and had loudspeakers all over the planet playing heavy metal.
