Viking Ship "Raven"

Viking Ship "Raven"

Ken
This graceful craft is an exact replica of the Gokstad, built by Vikings about 890 AD and unearthed in 1880. It shows the Vikings’ mastery of the craft of shipbuilding. In 1893, this 19th-century reproduction sailed from Norway to Chicago for the World’s Columbian Exposition, proving that the Vikings could have been the first Europeans to reach North America centuries before Columbus. The Preservation Partners of the Fox Valley will begin the long-awaited stabilization and conservation of this internationally significant ship. #1893 #Chicago #Geneva #Good_Templar_Park #Norway #Raven #viking_ship #Worlds_Columbian_Exposition
