Plaça Catalunya - Passeig de Gràcia - Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes - Rambla de Catalunya

Efrain
This block is a clear example of what we might consider to be the authentic downtown of Barcelona. It is placed between the principal avenues that shape the entry of the historical center of the city and is a classic landmark of the Plaza Catalunya. There we find some of the most emblematic structures of this crowded axis, for example the building of the Banco Español de Crédito, placed rightly opposite the square and whose tower is an icon of the same one, and also, just next to this one, the house Pich i Pon work of the famous Catalan architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch. In the Passeig de Gràcia and the Gran Via de les Corts Catalanes crossing we find an impressive 17 storey building of classical revival style owned by the Banco Vitalicio de España. When it was constructed, in 1921, it was the highest inhabitable building of the city, until forty years later when it was surpassed by the tower of the Banco Atlantico. #banco #barcelona #catalunya #pich_i_pon #plaza #puig_i_cadafalch #vitalicio
