Description
Iowa State track athletes train is one of the finest indoor facilities in the world. The 13 million dollars Lied Recreation-Athletic Facility complements Iowa State University outdoor track complex. The combination gives Cyclones track athletes first-rate, year-round practice facilities. The Lied Recreation-Athletic Facility was the site of the 1998, 2000 and 2007 Big 12 Indoor Track and Field Championships. The indoor facility includes a 300-meter track with eight 42-inch lanes, making it the largest and one of the fastest indoor surfaces in the world. The polyurethane surface maximizes the power of the runner and the long straight-aways and sweeping curves make the track a magnet for the finest runners. There is portable seating for 2,000 spectators and excellent field event facilities. The facility includes four pole vault runways and two long jump/triple jump pits. The Iowa State track program, with its proud record of national and conference championships teams, Olympic athletes and individual champions, is raised to even higher levels by the facility.
