Mile High Center

Camelot
The Mile High Center was designed by I.M. Pei in the early 1950's. The 294' tower was complected in 1956. It is considered to be Denver's first modern high rise building. The original design included a mixed use and public space and the base of the building but in the mid 1980's the Mile High Center was incorporated in to the Wells Fargo Center. The Pei Building now has the familiar curved atrium the the Wells Fargo Center is know for at its base. The building also won the American Institute of Architects Award for Merit in 1959 and the American Institute of Architects Denver Chapter 25 Year Award in 1995. Also located on the block is a Wells Fargo bank.
