Harbor Gateway

For our first semester in Harvard's urban planning program, we were asked to create a plan for the South Boston Waterfront on three levels: District, Sub-District and Site. The South Boston Waterfront is and has long been the focus of many planning efforts by the City of Boston. The formerly industrial neighborhood is on 1,000 acres of land, most of which is vacant. Mayor Menino has been interested in creating an Innovation District as well as building up the Fort Point Channel and Seaport District. My plan involves creating a port neighborhood around the Boston Design Center building, which contains nearly 2 million square feet of space, and from there, attracting a resident population that will be a base for a dynamic neighborhood. For more information, see our Google Site: https://sites.google.com/site/sbseaport/. The model was created as part of a final project for GSD 2201: Site Representation and Research and GSD 1121: Core Urban Planning Studio One, both Fall 2010 courses at the Harvard Graduate School of Design. #Black_Falcon_Cruise_Terminal #Boston_Design_Center #Harvard_GSD #port_neighborhoods #South_Boston_Seaport #South_Boston_Waterfront #urban_planning
