Shelter on the west shore of finnish lake.

massikka
This shelter collects sun energy passively to two stone towers. Overall desing is based on 3"x3" beams placed mainly horizontally and boards following the form of logs. Facades, outer walls , ceilings and floors are sawn wood following the shape of logs. Also roof is made of local aspen. For additional heating a stove is installed to function in co-operation with the other stone-tower. The style is a modern mix of traditional finnish barn architecture. The structure design encloses as few dimensions of wood as possible and almost all the materials originate from the nearby environment. #beam_structure #finnish_barnarchitecture #glass_wall #passive_solar_heating #wooden_roof
