BR Stantard Class 6P- 72009- "Clan Stewart" (WIP)

Alex W.
This locomotive was designed by Robert A. Riddles and was built at British Railways' Crewe Works on September 1952. He was built, (like the rest of the class, except 72005 "Clan MacGregor") with an AWS (Automatic Warning System) when he was built. Stewart was the engine chosen for a Midday Express special sometime during 1953, but disaster strikes when he involved a near miss with a truck/lorry and he was soon repaired afterward, and then returned to service in 1954. Clan Stewart was withdrawn from service in August 1965, roughly three years before steam ended on British Rail in 1968. #england #locomotive #midlands #railway #scotland #scrap #Tags_stewart #train #withdrawn #works
