Koninklijke Schouwburg

HMC
Building of this palace started in 1766, under order of Karel Christiaan van Nassau-Weilburg, a brother-in-law of Stadtholder Willem V. Construction stopped during the time France was invading. Stood unfinished and empty and was about to be taken down again, when a group of noblemen rent the place for 99 years in 1802. They finished construction and made it the central place for Den Haag´s Operas, which before were played `on-site`. Fully renovated in 1997-1999. #Nederland #Netherlands #The_Hague
