Solar dehydrator are popular for drying fruits, vegetables, herbs and other. But often fruits and vegetables would need to dry in direct sun while herbs would need to be in the dark to not be burned by the UV. In this design, I created an hybrid system allowing to dry in direct sun and in a dark chamber. The cold air enter at the front bottom part, heat up under the glass while drying fruits/vegetables picking humidity, before to escape by the back in the dark chamber drying herb before to exit by the top hat. I'm focus in recycling material and durability so for this design I combined a recycle wood windows frame with masonry bricks (*150). Both are easily found online for cheap/free. The brick also act as a thermal mass for a extended drying time.
