Posen - Province of PrussiaGeneralfeldmarschall
The Province of Posen (German: Provinz Posen; Polish: Prowincja Poznańska) was a province of Prussia between 1848 and 1918. Now part of the Greater Poland Voivodeship, it became Prussian after the First and Second Partitions of Poland, as the province of South Prussia. It was ceded to the Duchy of Warsaw during the Napoleonic Wars, but after France defeat and the subsequent Congress of Vienna, Prussia regained part of the territory, which became the Grand Duchy of Posen in 1815. The Duchy itself, which was ruled in personal union by the Prussian King, was incorporated into the Prussian Crown during the German revolutions of 1848.
